Asthma Educator Certification Course
The American Lung Association of Minnesota offers this course twice per year.
The course is designed as a preparatory course for the National Asthma Educator
Certification Board Exam to become a certified asthma educators. Currently, we
have over 60 certified asthma educators from the state of Minnesota. The next
prepartory Asthma Educator Certification Course will be offered in October 2005.

Controlling Asthma in American Cities Project
This 5-year, CDC-funded community collaborative aims to improve outcomes for
children with asthma in Minneapolis and Saint Paul. The project is involved in
over 15 different interventions within the two cities, including professional
educational opportunities for childcare providers, school nurses, pharmacists,
primary care providers, and other health care professionals. For more

Managing Asthma in Minnesota Schools
This is a 6-8 hour training program offered through the Minnesota
Department of Health designed to provide a comprehensive overview of
asthma, the role of the school nurse, and resources and processes for
providing care to children with asthma.

Setting the PACE (Provider Asthma Care Education) for Asthma in Minnesota
This 6-hour training for primary care providers is designed to improve asthma care
and outcomes for children with asthma. The course covers asthma management, the NIH
guidelines, spirometry, asthma medications, patient education, and documentation and
coding for asthma.
